Webservice terms and conditions

We (UK Vehicle Data Ltd) provide our API and webservice (as renamed, relocated, re-designed or otherwise changed from time to time) (API / Webservice). We are a limited company registered in England and Wales (registration number 09756191) and our registered office is at UK Vehicle Data Ltd Princess House, Princess Way Swansea, SA1 3LW.

We legally own a wide range of intellectual property (IP) rights used in and relating to the Website, including: the API / Webservice facility which you can access using your key; the design, text, graphics and other content of the web pages on the Website, together with all the web addresses associated with those web pages; in all the software used in relation to this API / Webservice. About these conditions

For the purpose of these conditions, we refer to the API / Webservice and the database collectively as 'the API / Webservice'. If you log on to or use any part of the API / Webservice you agree to these conditions. If you do not want to agree to these conditions, do not log on to or use this API / Webservice. We may change these conditions at any time without giving you notice. Please check these conditions from time to time for any changes. By continuing to use the API / Webservice you agree to all the changes we make to these conditions.

Using the API / Webservice

The API / Webservice allows you to search for car deals and to contact the organisations that provide these deals and services. You are allowed to use the Website and the results of any search you carry out on the website for this purpose unless this is not allowed under paragraph 6 of these conditions. Prices on the Website are for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer by advertisers which is capable of acceptance by you. The information contained on the Website and from any communication related to the Website does not constitute financial advice. We may limit your access to some parts of the Website depending on whether you have registered with us. Please do not tell other people your log in, password or any other piece of information that is part of our security procedures. We take steps to prevent people misusing the Website and to make sure that our rights are not affected. We process information about you in line with our privacy policy. By using the Website, you agree to the way in which we process your personal information.

You cannot use the API / Webservice:

• for any purpose considered unlawful;
• to harm, threaten, abuse or harass another person, or in a way that invades someone's privacy or is (in our reasonable opinion) offensive or is unacceptable or damaging to UK Vehicle Data;
• to tamper with, update or change any part of the API / Webservice; in a way that affects how it is run;
• scrape, decompile, hack or otherwise use as not intended;
• in a way that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large burden on UK Vehicle Data's technical systems as determined by us; or using any automated means to monitor, copy or scrape the website or its content, or to interfere with or attempt to interfere with how the Website works.

Specific restrictions on data usage:

• 1. You may cache any lookup data except for any VDI Check Data (Which must be a new call every time) until midnight the same day, after which a fresh record must requested.
• 1.1 Lookup data may be stored as part of a memorialised customer record, for example against an insurance quotation or vehicle inspection or work. If you are unsure please contact your account manager
• 2. You may not display the VIN / Chassis number to a non-verified trade body. A Consumer can not be shown the full VIN number from VRM. This includes it being hidden in any HTML or similar source.
• 3. You may not compile a new, duplicate, copy or additional database of VRM's that is searchable in any way. For the avoidance of doubt, you may not compile a new or duplicate database save for item 1.1.
• 4. Advertising using the Vehicle Registration Mark data is prohibited. Please check with your account manager if in doubt.
• 5. You may not resell any part of the data obtained from our API's as a lookup, index, database, flat file or other type of storage or lookup service without prior permission from UK Vehicle Data Ltd.
• 6. All 3rd party data licences must be maintained for any codes or other datasets that are obtained via our API and annual renewals will be checked.

Trial accounts

Trial accounts are used for testing the UKVD API in a closed wall environment. Sandbox / Trial testing data may not be used in any live publicly available website, application or other such like interface. You may not wash, cleanse or bulk clean any vehicles using your Sandbox / Trial key. You, your company or your business may not benefit financially , gain knowledge or insight or otherwise benefit commercially from the use of our Sandbox. Sandbox / Trial accounts are limited to registrations with the letter 'A' in them to kerb abuse.

Charging

Charges apply on a per lookup basis according to your tariff. Only successful lookups are charged except when the ratio of Successful vs (Unsuccessful, registration not found or invalid registration or similar) reaches more than 20% of the overall account usage in a calendar month. We reserve the right to charge for all lookups regardless of result at the discretion of your account manager. Attempts will be made to contact you to aid in fixing any issues you may have that have caused this first.

Unless otherwise stated, these terms shall apply to all websites operated by UK Vehicle Data Limited from time to time.
